I came across this little gem while browsing Elleuk.com's pick of the best velvet pieces around, and it was love at first click. Velvet can be a little tricky; nothing says 'leftover from the 90s' like a cheap, badly-cut red velvet dress. But get it right and it can add a little extra oomph to your party wardrobe. I love the contrast between velvet and mesh on this body; the mesh adds a little bit of casual cool to the dressy velvet, and also gives it a more modest cut (getting everything out on show won't help velvet's potential to look trashy). Pair it with jeans, heels and pared-down make-up for casual drinks, or slip on a high-waisted flippy skirt and bright lipstick for the perfect Christmas party attire.
